Premiere of Via Dolorosa in Cracow
Embark on a virtual pilgrimage to Jerusalem
Grand premiere
7. 03. 2025 we had the honor of showing the "Via Dolorosa" to a wider audience for the first time. This is our third premiere together with Museum of St. John Paul II the Great in Krakow and we are very happy to work with them.
This time we showed a very special film. From the very beginning of Christianity, Jerusalem has been the most important destination of pilgrimage, and for centuries the Stations of the Cross and even entire Calvary hills have been erected at the temples to allow all those who cannot go to the Holy Land to experience the mystery of Lord's Passion. "Via Dolorosa" is a modern form of experiencing the traditional Way of the Cross. Experiencing it in Jerusalem, even if we can't go there.
Special guests
The Way of the Cross is a contemplation of the Passion of Christ. To fully process this topic, we invited special guests, real specialists who helped to understand it even more. Researcher of the Shroud of Turin, syndologist Krzysztof Sadło spoke about this unique relic and how it affects our understanding of the Passion of the Lord.
The Franciscan Fathers of the Commissariat of the Holy Land - Nikodem Gdyk and Dariusz Sambor talked about Jerusalem and their own experience of the Way of the Cross in the Holy City. “Virtual reality shows what this way really looks like. For pilgrims who have only experienced the Way of the Cross services in Polish churches, the one in Jerusalem is a clash with reality, as the Way of the Cross runs through the streets of the city, among stalls and crowds of people, especially on Friday, when many Muslims go to the Temple Square and Jews go to the Weeping Wall,” says Fr Nikodem.
“The cheapest pilgrimage to the Holy Land”
“For so many years I have been going to Jerusalem, guiding pilgrims, and today I looked at the rooftops and saw yet another perspective of this Holy City. I recommend such an experience — the cheapest pilgrimage to the Holy Land!” continues Fr Nikodem.
Bishop of Cracow Robert Chrząszcz also attended the premiere. “I have been to the Holy Land three times, and after this screening I can say from today that I have been there three and a half times!” he said.
